UNDER CONSTRUCTION – I am re-doing this section , please feel free to read my draft outlines on the pages below – please check back soon! updating 22 Aug 2010… and probably as you’re reading this!
While not every project fits into a rigid standardized process (many don’t), the pages here attempt to explain how a landscape architecture project progresses from start to finish. However, please note that since all landscapes (we hope) involve the use of growing, living things as well as non-living materials, the “process” is never finished.
I believe that an explanation of this nature is important for good communication between landscape architects and clients. Please feel free to print it, share it, comment on it.
I can’t improve on this quote from the guys over at Modative (an architecture firm in Santa Monica), “The most important thing to understand is that getting a project designed and built is a process, it takes time. Decisions are not made all at once, but throughout the course of a project.”
The following pages progress through the phases with links at the bottom of each page.
